The reason i decided to mark them as similar is a thing that takes place so much only in these two franchises from everything i ever saw - antivilains. Both Luffy and Tetsuro like playing role of Jesus by forgiving "bad" guys, making them actually appear to be the "good" guys.
Mister 2 sacrificed himself more times than actually Luffy; Buggy, Crocodile, the son of the Axe-Hand guy and eventually the Axe-Hand guy himself, you remember, they all are now good, don't ya?
