Both manga have drama, romance, and tragedy.
Regarding the stories themselves, nice character development, beautiful artwork, and wonderful plots are present in each. Because they both have misunderstood characters and a character that wishes that they could live longer, the heart-wrenching atmospheres are also similar.
The only difference would be that Rec - Kimi ga Naita Hi is shoujo, whereas Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan is more seinen/josei. Although WnSnJ is more unique and more favored, I think that fans of one will like the other. I believe that anyone, any age will find these 1-volume manga enjoyable.

1-volume manga that tell a poignant tale filled with romance and drama. Both manga put readers in a sea of depression in the short amount of time it takes to read them, and for more emotional individuals, they might even cry as they flip through the pages.
The strongest point of both manga is that, despite knowing how it's going to end very early on, readers will still be touched by the stories.
