The two have very similar premises and set-ups even though they are tonally and thematically very different. They are about cute, blobby creatures who want to spread happiness, particularly to the unhappy girl/woman who cares for them.
I will say that Takopi is significantly darker and more disturbing than Kurumi, as it deals with very dark topics, as it focuses on depression and the dark side of humanity. Yumi to Kurumi is more lighthearted and focuses on insecurities and finding confidence in yourself. It's very cute and has a romantic plot as well.
