Both are school/class romcom between one boy and one girl, where one of them try to do something weird and the other give reaction (Boke & Tsukkomi comedy). In Saeki san, Saeki is trying to sleep during class, and in Sukinako, Mie do weird stuff because she can't see clearly as she always forget to bring eye-glasses

While these two vary wildly in terms of progression, humor, and story structure, the actual style is very similar. Both use a seat-neighbor helping out the other because of a growing affection.
