Cooking for yourself, alone- the struggle is real. Both of these are rom-coms about women trying to cook alone. Tonari wa is more shoujo and culminates with a solid couple and improved cooking skills, whereas Sumire-sensei is a josei and plays up the comedy more. I don't doubt Sumire-sensei will end up happy too, but I do sometimes doubt her cooking skills will improve at all...
