Both series feature supernatural monsters akin to vampires which are taken seriously. They are cunning, manipulative, absolutely ruthless and completely devoid of humanity. The antagonists are evil incarnate, but have complex backstories and motivations which make them three dimensional.
You'll find more than enough gore in both works which is drawn in a very interesting fashion. It is not your typical "so detailed it is comical" but truly disturbing as dread conveyed through character expressions and shadow-work is used superbly.
One key difference is that Shigahime also features excessive nudity while Noah does not.
