The same theme of child neglect / abuse. The main characters with similar background. The way the main character's situation is resolved is very similar. It is a slightly less shut-in / sitcom environment though.

Both Female MC's are young and have neglecting or abusive parents. They are similar in that they both rely on an adult stranger to cope with their troubles. Said Adult stranger being the Male MC who has a really dark past. Both MC's are reliant on each other and their interactions have a slight romance-ish vibe. Male MC really wants to help out with Female MC's relationships. Both their relationship with each other are secrets to outsiders.
They're both enjoyable stories with likeable main characters. And have involving side characters who help them out at times.
