Chi no Wadachi's similarities to the Korean manhwa Bastard are countless. I can't help but wonder if the author of Chi no Wadachi was inspired by Bastard because these stories have a lot in common. Both have a kid protagonist who hates their parent, who is a psycho killer but pretends to be a normal person. Both have a major plot point revolving around a moment where they remember their parent throwing someone off a building/cliff. Both have a love interest that acts to help the MC run away from their parent and helps the MC overcome their trauma. I could go on and on. If   read more

If you love Bastard like me then you'll definitely love Chi no Wadachi. It has the same concept of a mysterious and scary parent with a manipulated son. As a fan of Bastard, I really enjoyed this manga a lot and I highly recommend you to check it out

Both series have an insane amount of tension and center around the relationship between a very mentally unstable parent and their child. Both have a ton of gaslighting from the parent and this sense of danger that surrounds both parents (albeit for different reasons). There is also a love interest in both series who is also struggling with negative circumstances. Bastard feels more like a traditional psychological thriller that you would see in theaters and uses a lot of similar narrative techniques. Chi no Wadachi feels like a indie psychological thriller that will become a classic a few years after it finishes. Both will leave   read more

Have you experience living with a parent that's seem to be doing something that's ethically wrong and hurt other people without caring at all? If you don't know how that feels, then read this manga to find out. If you know, I'm sorry. At the very least, this manga provides us different point of views too. Even though the actions were questionable and hard to understand at times, the story was played out well and it becomes so intensely interesting to read!

If you liked Bastard, you will probably love Chi No Wadachi because Chi No Wadachi focuses on the concept of the devouring mother in philosophy. In Bastard, the father puts pressure. In Chi No Wadachi, the mother tries to dominate and manage her child. Chi No Wadachi uses sexuality as a metaphor. Sexuality in Bastard Although not many, you will see that Chi no Wadachi and its mangaka often resort to sexuality in their works.

Even though Bastard is a manhwa, the stories are quite similar. Both explore how parents can manipulate their children and how much impact they can have on them. Both are very well-written, and each character is very nuanced. Blood on the tracks is a generational masterpiece, one of the best manga I've ever read, and while Bastard isn't on that level, it is still an extremely well-written story.
