This may seem like a strange recommendation, but I thought that they both have similar elements when it talks about love. If you've read both of them, you'd probably know what I'm talking about.
While Koisuru has animals as its main characters, it really talks about who you can love and that it's ok to feel that way, which is also a major theme in Ao no Flag. They kinda go in-depth with these kind of topics, especially in Ao no Flag.
