Both stories are about a young girl whose life changes radically after meeting some kind of fairy-type character. These characters can give her multiple transformations that she can't always control : in Shugo Chara, it's about hidden emotions, and in Gokkun! Pucho, it's about what the main character is drinking. Also, both stories have this similar atmosphere which is very cute and colorful.
Both stories are about young girls who one day get their world drastically changed when they meet these fairy type creatures. And magical food related items as well that are served as big plot devices to the story.
