The main character in the series is very naive about the way the world works. The colors are bright and the creatures styles are not normal. The costume designs on the magical girl outfits are also quite elaborate.

Madoka Magica and Symphogear are magical girl series with the same intent that take place in a futuristic setting, and the protagonist in both is voiced by Aoi Yuuki. The enemies in each have a different art style compared to everything else. Both rely on shock value.

both anime involves friendship (skinship) between girls with some weird psychological aspect that toys with your feeling. the model for the main character also resembles each other. it is an anime of a girl fighting monsters

Both have a cult following.
The only difference is that one pretends to be deep while the other knows how to have fun.
Incredibly fun and engaging, perhaps for different reasons, but good stuff nonetheless. Big emphasis on the relationship of the female characters, and weird enemy's designs.
If you're looking for a dark magical girl anime like Madoka Magica, but you want the music to be a more upfront component of the scene, look no further then Senki Zesshou Symphogear! It's got death, magic, and best of all - music you can sing along to! Each magical girl activates their powers through song, and each track will keep you pumped up! I absolutely love this series, almost as much as I love Madoka Magica, and I hope you will love it, too!
