Both have many random unique moments. Main guy arrives to new city near by the sea and ends up living with another character that behaves like an alien.
Both have a gorgeous animation.
Both somehow have to do with the sea. Two boys put into awkward situations because of the another character. Sci-fi element and the animation for both series flows nicely and is really colorful.

Both main characters are self-proclaimed aliens, and they're surrounded by even stranger people. Both animes are set in nice and detailed cities, and they both also have a plot line that changes frequently.

These anime are both completely strange with odd characters that come into the picture claiming they are aliens. One likes fish, while the other wears a futon around her. They are both odd.
