Both are about group who work for self interest rather then working together to stop the real threat of the Monsters.
If you liked the dark series and the focus on the relationship development between characters, Freezing falls along similar lines. Both have dark pasts that affect their present relationships and fight an enemy they know little about. Both involve sci-fi and do have some fan service in it as well. The girls main characters are both stand-offish but become "dere's" as the relationship develops.
