Both characters are suffering same events over and over again to prevent tragedies from happening (Okabe trying to save Mayuri and Rika trying to prevent the murders in Hinamizawa and deaths of her friends), Higurashi and Steins;Gate are very similiar in the terms of alternative timelines and that there is a perfect world somewhere where the tragedies never happened and everyone lives. Steins;Gate and Higurashi have the idea of fate already been decided and the characters fight against it.
