Both are centered around conflicting countries/worlds with deep racial ties (Elevens vs Brittanians, Earth vs Colonies). The main characters are young men and women who are torn between two worlds both morally and on the battlefield, and must deal daily with moral ambiguity. All conflict in both series are mostly settled by mechanical suits and politics is the motive behind every move.

The mech combat is very well done and any fan of mech anime or of futuristic combat will appreciate both series.

Both are filled with battles that are control versus freedom. The Gundams in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing are the representation of freedom and the Black Knights in Code Geass are a representation of freedom. Also both series have different forms of mobile suits in them.
