Both shows have their flairs in one way or another, and viewers need to always expect the weirdest and stylish of moments in both shows.
Both shows are two-faced, featuring a rather laid-back high school setting contrasting with a surreal, parallel "dimension" or "universe" where certain students participate in heated duels for their chance to shine. One main difference is that Revue Starlight main focal point was the characterization and relationships among the female cast, while Star Driver actually features an antagonistic group.

Both involve a high school setting where select students do battles outside of school in an environment where the outside world cannot be harmed. Music is also prevalent in both anime.

Both series have high school drama plots mixed with weekly extradimensional fights. The fights in both series have uniquely fluid and dance-y choreography, and the designs of the battle uniforms in Revue Starlight and Tauburn in Star Driver have very similarly distinct design cues.
