Produced by Studio Bones, Star Driver and Captain Earth are mecha series with style. But more than that, there are also mysterious origins relating to the world both series are part of. In essence, there are strange phenomenons involving the main protagonists as they deal with mysterious factions.
There is decent amount of action, drama, and focus on the conflict between various characters. If you're looking for a mecha show with similar style, these two titles should be under your radar.
Both are produced by BONES, give off a feeling of slight mystery, have casual fanservice, and have mecha. Also, the same writer and character designer
Simple-minded, and positive main character who goes to an Island and pilots robots without any proper training. Family background also was a key to them getting involved. Both the main characters goal is to protect the world.
The two series both have a fictional animal pet, and is made by BONES.
(This is purely opinion based and I couldn't hide my distaste for both these series that took me 3 times to complete) I Hope You Enjoy My Rant!!! :)
-Both have good first episodes but then after are shitty ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-The villains/antagonists are bland and hold no mystique to themselves (Bugbear from Captain Earth is the only exception in my opinion)
-The main characters at first seems to have a lot of potential to grow into something great but for no reason at all their characters take a complete u-turn and turn into your typical ecchi protagonist but with some over the top power
