Both series deals with romance that is quite realistic and presented in a more mature way than the typical shoujo style series.
But that's not all..because music plays a key theme in both Nana and White Album.
Both series has comedy (less so in White Album), a lot of drama, romance, and a female protagonist who hopes to make their name known in the music industry through hard work and determination.
Again, both series are quite realistic and generally aimed at more mature audiences.
