If you enjoyed the darker, more disturbing episodes of Digimon Tamers, I highly recommend checking out Brigadoon. Both shows explore the bond of an innocent child and a non human creature from a different world, although Brigadoon tests the bond between the two perhaps even further than Digimon Tamers, with some truly disturbing and violent fights. Be warned, however, despite its cute art style, Brigadoon is anything but a kids show. The fights are intense, and humans and non human characters are killed on screen.
