The story-lines aren't very similar but the random (and not logical) experiences both Haruhi's experience (well, in melancholy's case, mostly Kyon's experience) are quite similar. While watching Melancholy, I thought of Ouran so yeah. They're both quite funny too.

They both have to do with school clubs (SOS Brigade and Ouran Host Club)
Both Ouran and Suzumiya poke fun at stereotype things within the shoujo genre. Ouran focuses a bit more on romance stereotypes while Suzumiya deals with the most common characters in the Sci-fi part of shoujo. Both are light hearted comedys.
They are both set in and around schools, both are about clubs, and both are just as crazy as eachother, I think anyone who likes one would like the other

Reserved main character is dragged around according to a manic pixie maaaaaybe romantic interest
Ensemble cast slice of life that is aware of itself
The squad has adventures in their club
Characters get harangued into wearing absurd costumes and doing ridiculous things
Somehow manages to not be obnoxious for non-comedy fan

Both are fun comedy slice of life animes with a bit of drama. They are both highly enjoyable if you like this kind of anime.

Both feature a mc that is caught up into a strange club lead by a cocky yet egotistical brat of a leader and the main character befriending the other members along the way as well too and the day to day lives of the members as well too and lots of cheesy comedy included.
