Both series have a very calming factor to them that is driven by both the plot and the nice use of pastel coloring. They both are wonderful shows that really look into their characters.
Both series emanate a certain melancholy.
Both shows are very depressing on the one hand, but also hopeful and empathetic.
Both animes have a choice of really beautiful, fitting music.
The stories may differ, but the atmospheres are very similar.

Hourou Musuko is a slow-paced show about transgender children. The animation is gentle, the characters are interesting and it's another topic rarely addressed in anime. It's a very calm but sad show, so the tone is a little different than Bunny Drop's positivity, but a very similar feel.
Bunny Drop is about parenthood, also rarely covered in anime, and has the same kind of calm art style with gentle colours.
