Old men, tea, aesthetes with mustaches, politics, war, pride and loyalty. Both main characters are dragged into a conflict they don't want because they have better concern.
Both feature many honorable warriors engaging in many battles and politics. The exploration of the rift between politicians/soldiers and warriors/aesthetes is also similar. Though there are distinct main characters, the story is shown from many different perspectives. Lastly, Furuta and Yang respectively are among the most relatable protagonists in anime.
