Both shows eventually evolve into stories that include the theme of Man vs Monster; Showing us the darker parts of humanity and making us question who are the truly evil ones.
Both shows start as pretty vague and simple stories that become darker and more complex with each episode. They also show how the existence of demons can be responsible for the breakdown of society through the paranoia of its inhabitants. There's also some slight similarities in how the vampires in Shiki don't want to be vampires just like the humans possessed by demons don't want to be possessed.

Both have the theme of man vs monsters. Although both will make you ask yourself, who are the villains, victims and what exactly is humanity or what does it mean to be human?
Both shows will force you at the end to think who is the real villain, Human or monsters? Both titles reveal the ugly side of humanity at crucial moments

Similarities:
- One season - full story
- Men VS Monsters in a battle of total annihilation of one another
- The monsters are religion-based
- The ideology of both humans and monsters is understandable so it's hard to pick a side
- Both shows include (main) characters that belong to both parties (niether completely human, nor a demon/vampire)
- Villians that you can feel sorry for even though they have commited crimes
- Both are kinda gory and philosophical
- Tragic near the end
IMHO, Shiki has better character exploration compared to Devilman, but Devilman's shorter and has a bit more exciting art style. If you specifically enjoyed the culmination-to-ending of any

These two horror anime have monsters that are living among humans and deal with themes on "What it means to be human". These two shows also dig deeper on the idea on "Who is better and has more right to live? Humans or monsters?". Not to mention these two anime can be very dark and disturbing with blood and gore.

Fighting against monsters, which the series uses to allow itself to show the ugly side of human nature - if this sole theme and dark climate is what you're interested in, then the other title surely has plenty of these!
Both devilman crybaby and shiki are dark, they will both make you cry. although the genres are totally different, you will be crying by the end of it.

What happens when a dangerous "other" slowly starts to take over? How will we treat them? How will we treat each other in fear that they might be one of them? Even if this "other" is dangerous, does deserve to die, do the deserve the unjust treatment? Won't society destroy itself by fearing this "other" and senselessly treating them without a hint of empathy or compassion, despite whatever their sin might be?
All of these questions are asked as the story slowly unfolds into an explosive finale
