While Comic Girls is about a fledgling manga artist and all the moe that ensures, Bakuman is about a pair of guys making it through the manga industry. I felt Bakuman was in-depth in the inner workings of the manga industry, while the main lead in Comic Girls was trying to learn how to get better in her drawings.

Both series are about people who want to be mangaka and shows these people's daily life. Even if Bakuman is more serious about that, both teach us a lot about manga production and the artist's process.
