Both animes have a similar premise. Shy girl who wants to change meets a magical pet and she becomes a magical girl, gathering a friend group in the process. Many of the characters have similar traits and you can draw parallels between them, for example both Akari and Erika struggle with having popular older sisters and it plays a role in their character arcs, you also have Yuri and Sara who are both smart but very quiet and usually keep to themselves.
