Though the overall plot is different in that one has to do with school and the other a kingdom, they both have similar elements.
-both boys in the animes are standoffish with that cold kind of personality. And they looks alike too!
-both girls have magical powers
-both have an ultimate romance in them(although in gakuen Alice you have to read the anime for them to kiss --it's just kind of hinted at on the anime)
-the girl saves the boy in an emotional sense.
Anyway, both are spectacular and I highly recommend them.
