We have two vampire series from the 1980s or earlier which helped shaped series which came along later on, yet both have their own twists on the genre which may not seem new anymore, but were back then.

Vampire Hunter D is quite similar to the first part of JoJo. Both are gothic horror tales influenced by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Both anime have powerful vampires, and focus on a main character who is trying to kill them. Also, both anime have a similar tone and mood.
