Okay, so that person you're in deep, denial-y love with suddenly disappears! What do you do!? Risk screwing everything over in a crazy attempt to get them back? Or (snrk) just accept a world without them? Questions both asked and answered by these two absolutely wonderful movies, both of which provide some good closure to their respective preceding TV series.
Movies in which a character disappears mysteriously and no one but a person remembers them. They then struggle to make everything go back to normal.
Movie sequels which have more psychological aspect than the series. There's also many similarity such as tsundere MC, parallel world, time travel, time loop and suddenly-vanishing-MC. Also have outstanding visuals and music.
Both Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu and Steins Gate: Fuka Ryoiki no Deja Vu borrow their basic plot-line from the same common source material: Kimagure Orange Road, which was a popular anime TV series in the '80s.
In all three anime, the protagonist somehow goes back in time to when they were kids, but by doing so this causes serious ramifications for the future, a future where the existence of their loved one is endangered, so the protagonist must try to fix things back to normal. Both movie includes a package of time traveling phenomenon, supernatural elements, and character relationships.
There is mystery involved in both movies as the character tries to figure out the events that occurs in their perspective worlds. More so, they also try to solve their problems that comes as no easy task. There is comedy present in both movies in the form of dialogues and character interactions. At the same, emotional moments are factored in that balances the lighthearted and melancholic tones.
Apart apart from the obvious similarities of these 2 movies being sci-fi and serving as conclusive endings to the series, they are both brilliantly executed. And while it's quite surprising how unexpectedly similar even the plot lines are, they both retain their originality.
However, unlike the Steins;Gate movie (which has a brilliant, unparalleled series preceding it), the Haruhi Suzumiya movie actually surpasses its original series.
Both are highly recommended! (must watch series first)

Aside from both are movie sequels of two popular anime,
- focuses on a situation where a main character (from the original story) does not exist or had his/her existence modified.
- then they do everything to restore what has been "normal" before by means of time traveling.
- also revealed the origin of intriguing names. Hououin Kyouma and John Smith.

Both are sequel films where one of the characters of the main coupling suddenly vanishes from the world and it's up to the counterpart of the couple to try to bring them back by any means necessary.
Shoushitsu is more supernatural and it is the guy searching for the girl whereas Déjà vu is sci-fi and it's the girl searching for the guy.

The two are Movie SEQUELS of their respective TV series counterparts and both have somebody who suddenly disappears. Both have somebody who tries to find the missing person. And avoid the disappearance. They have a sense of romance in the movie.These also contain some comedy. Both are a somewhat serious type of Movie.

Both movies are incredibly good.
Both movies deal with the aspect of a main character "disappearing" and the emotional trauma that follows.
To truly appreciate these movies you have to have seen the anime shows.
If you like Haruhi Suzumiya or Steins;Gate you will love their movies.
Both involves time traveling in order to restore the world line with very similar scenes that will give off vibes to the other anime.

Both are an emotional roller coaster experience. The main character is also missing.
Eerily similar. The quirky main character disappears, people do not remember him/her, the love interest has to search for them, time travel plays a big role. The animation is top. In both cases, you should watch the TV series first.
"The Disappearance of Okabe Rintarou" takes after its predecessor in quite a few interesting ways. Despite literally being Steins;Gate, Load Region of Déjà vu interestingly utilizes significantly less confusing-feeling time travel conditions than The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya does to tackle the same concept. That concept, of course, being that it takes the series' most beloved character away, placing the rest of the cast in a universe where they don't exist, and tasking the new tentative "leader" of the group with bringing that beloved character back in order to fulfill the hole left in the now “empty” world. The main protagonists of both films have to deal with someone who is very important to them seemingly erased from existance. They must find a way to bring this person back. (To watch each film you need to watch it's prequel series or it won't make sense).

I won't normally add sequels to recommendations but this one is too obvious to not add. They both involve the beloved central character from the main series disappearing from the world line and everyone acting as if they never existed, except the protagonist knows something is wrong. There are time travel shenanigans in both.
