Both are aimed at kids (but will please older audience), have about the same length and have a nice girl with strong leadership that must face several hardships. Even though the settings and stories are very different, the anime will give you a similar warm feeling.
Episodes are simple but heart-warming. Both shows are probably directed for children but are nice to watch even if you are older. Simple themes like friendship and love are mixed with darker tones like betrayal, mistakes that have large consequences, hurting others and getting hurt. Every episode teaches or reminds us of something important in life. Overall very different shows give off very similar vibe and are both enjoyable to watch.
