Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii Recommendations
it can be difficult to find another anime to top kaichou wa maid-sama!, especially since season 2 is near impossible. thankfully, i believe i've found an anime that may seem extremely different but happen to be a lot more similar than anticipated. this series is titled wotakoi: love is hard for otaku.
GENRE
the main reason as to why these are similar would be the simple fact that they're both classified as romance comedies that also tie into the slice of life category.
SETTING
that being said, it can be seen that they both take place in very common/basic settings. wotakoi's plot is seen throughout a basic desk-type office
building while maid-sama's is seen throughout a basic high school. both of these environments seem very mundane, yet both of these animes find a way to develop an entertaining story in them.
CHARACTER SIMILARITIES
it can be pointed out that both the main female leads have awkward personalities, especially after encountering the male leads. in addition, considering the fact that these are both classified as comedies, it can be hard to leave the entire humorous burden on a singular couple the entire time. both of these series incorporate side characters that also provide comedy.
SECRETS
as the viewer can see in the beginning of both animes, the female leads are burdened with embarrassing secrets. not only that, but in both shows, the male leads are the little to very few people that know about said secrets.
LOVE CONCEPT
last but not least, when digging deeper into the romance aspect of this anime, both of the male leads seem to have an underlying fixation in terms of non-stop attention/curiosity toward the female leads. if you enjoy romance stories where the man is portrayed as "more in love" in comparison to the female's feelings, both animes involve that.
