Both deal with a skilled male leads who have their loved ones brutally murdered and both plots revolve around them resolving their problems with stronger, more skilled people. With loved ones stripped away, they both realize the harsh truth behind the murders.
First of all: story.
The story isn't quite equal, but I do recommend this.
You'll see blood, sorrow and other strong feelings.
The most similar thing between them is that in both of the anime's they are struggling for survival, for others, and themselves.

Grow in hell. Deadman Wonderland and Akame ga Kill instantly give their protagonists a slap in the face of what hell is. In this period, these MCs must fight in a means to protect themselves and everyone they hold dear to them.
Deadman Wonderland's Ganta is made prisoner after being allegedly massacring his classroom's students. While AGK's Tatsumi is made an assassin after learning about the evil within the empire. Both MCs go through multiple challenges in such craze of hell to get the life they deserve.
Both are good action anime with a ton of gore if that be your taste.
