Both titles take place in a coastal landscape with green meadows, steep cliffs, hills, stonewalls and sheep. Also the architecture is similar. For example, raw stone buildings with steep roofs can often be seen.
There are interesting fantasy (Book of Bantorra) and science fiction (Fractale) elements, which have more or less potential. The technology is a mix of high tech and low tech.
And... in both cases the ending is messy, with a lot of action and sappy speeches, but with no satisfying conclusion to the story.
If you want to see a promising series end in a trainwreck, both titles may be for you.
