These shows focus on a guy trying to leave some of his old life behind in a new city and when you think you are understanding the story, another point of view shows you what really happened behind the scenes and have amazing background music for every key moment.
Music gives me vibes from Durarara, all the build up that Great Pretender does feels like the same that Durarara has, both have those groups, organization and Yakuza, all characters have great development in both anime, both animes take place in real world locations.
The vibe is kinda similar, but the whole context is different, even so both animes are pretty cool!
the main characters from both animes have similarities. A boy who looking for their fortunes in other cities. But, Durarara has a little bit of supernatural, you know like a superpower, but in the Great Pretender, no. the similarities between them are the plot twist, you might guess the plot but it's always not the way you thought it was. I personally prefer anime with the plot twist. You should give it a try someday.
