I'm surprised this hasn't been recommended yet. Both story starts with the Main Character (a highschool student) moved to a new town/city to continue their study. they met other characters and befriend with them. Then, the Main Character found out the mistery of the place where they lived.. The atmosphere is similar, and both anime have people who can use supernatural powers. Also, there're some character that have a similar personalities and looks, like Kuma (human version) & Yosuke x Kida, Kanji x Shizuo (their looks) and Izanami x Izaya (their abbilities to controls humans). Both stories feature unusual and strange mystery storylines with an eccentric cast of young adults and a dark atmosphere to them as well as a trippy and edgy artstyle and animation included.
