Although they might not be similar in pace, and Kashimashi involves a boy changing into a girl, they both contain soft and nice artwork with cute characters you're bound to fall in love with.
In both anime, the characters start from simply being just ordinary friends, then come to a point of misunderstanding which separates them and/or links them together in one way or another. In both series, there's a sense that the main story characters do love each other but won't express it until either one of them expresses ones love towards the other, or builds it up over time. In both anime, there is a competition going on between at least three characters, which are all about who they really love or if they even do so.

Teen dramas revolving around yuri between girls set mainly within school.
Kashimashi is more dramatic in plot with its use of sci-fi elements whereas Sasameki is down to Earth.
Kashimashi features a boy turned girl in the midst of a love triangle whereas Sasameki features a boyish girl who is secretly in love with her best friend who is also a girl.
The drama and tension in both end up on opposite scales from start to finish, Sasameki being rather dramatic towards the beginning but dims down towards the end whereas Kashimashi has the opposite spectrum to that.
