Both are about a school club and have mystery elements. Like Otonashi the mainchar in Hyouka is not very interessted in this club and trys to avoid it.

Both are about a group of students who try to figure out the mysteries surrounding the school,and both main charcthers dont particulary want to help. Hyouka is much more of a Slice of Life while Angel Beats is a action.
It has a high school setting and the main characters are teenagers...
But, this one is more creative, has more intelligent writing, there's a slower narrative that allowed to flesh out better the characters and the setting. Also, it has intellectuality on it, not a big one, but it has.
Plus, no fan service.
