The film "Neko no Ongaeshi" by Studio Ghibli is a very good recommendation for the anime "A Whisker Away". The stories have many parallels and for those who may not know Studio Ghibli, this is an opportunity to take a look at one of the studio's many wonderful animated films. Both stories involve humans getting involved in the world of cats in unexpected ways, including the main character turning into a cat and then having to explore the world of cats in an effort to return to their life as a human.
Both movies have a female protagonist who got spirited away into a world of cats, transformed into a cat, and must find the way to turn herself back to a human. If you're a cat lover and like one of these movie, give the other one a try!
A Whisker Away and The Cat Returns are two beautifully animated movies about a girl who becomes a cat, though each movie have their own separate reasons for why it happens. The girl later ends up in a parallel world where cats thrive. A Whisker Away is more of a character drama than the kind of funny and magical adventure The Cat Returns is, but if you love cats and loved one of these movies, you are sure to enjoy the other.
The Cat Returns/Neko no Ongaeshi is a nice film by studio ghibli. (Its a spinoff from 'Whisper of the heart'. So you can watch it first. It's not necessary tho.) In both Neko no Ongaeshi and A Whisper Away, the MC turns into a cat and wants to stay like that in the beginning but then later realizes that they were better off in the human form.

Both Female Leads get unwittingly stuck in cat form, and have to turn back before the transformation becomes permanent. "A Whisker Away" is heavily focused on a Romantic Slice of Life being forcefully nudged by the supernatural. Whereas "The Cat Returns" more forcefully sucks you into on a thrilling adventure within the supernatural world. Anyone who has seen one and watches the other will immediately be able to see the parallels.

Both movies have cat transformation, different realms/worlds, some sort of weird love problem and both are beautiful stories.
