Because anime has taught me that whenever a character does so, they wake up at some undetermined date with the apocalypse seemingly having occurred whilst sleeping - with the character forgotten - and there being very angry, man-eating creatures prowling around. As well as healthy plant overgrowth. I would opt to go back to sleep until the world unbuggers itself, personally.

Both deal with a disease that threatens mankind and the repercussions to those who are frozen waiting for a cure.
When i first watched the movie Ibara no Ou it immediately hit me that this has much similar to Blue Gender. Main character has deadly illness and they are put to cold sleep to wait for a cure and then when they finally wake up world has changed and not in a good way.
Disease strikes, and the answer for some is to be put to sleep until the cure has been found in the future. However, the future isnt so bright and turns into an apocalyptic land. Alot of death early on, and then more focus on the story and characters
