If you've seen one, its highly recommended you watch the other. Both animes are involve a conflict between humanity and giant insects, called "Blue" in Blue Gender. and "Om" in Nausicaa. Both animes are set in a post-Apocalyptic world. In Nausicaa technology regressed, but in Blue Gender, humans are merely endangered. In Blue Gender, the Blue evolved to destroy humanity because humanity polluted the Earth, in Nausicaa, the Insects are what keep humanity alive with their purifying trees but humans are hostile to them out of fear, thus they are engaged in conflict.
