While the two are similar in more than a few ways. From the over-the-top game action to, the busty twintailed girl, to the flat chested hyperactive girl who's likely to be packing in the event you need a big meaty TACO! It's easier to tell you how they're different. For example, watching Shakunetsu isn't comparable to a library stocking only the holy Bible.
Shakunetsu is like Saki, but with ping pong. Tanoshii and lesbians all the way.

Both are about schools going for the regional then national competition in their sports. Both use the same style of comedy with all or almost all girl cast and continuous blushing(no joke all the time). A lot of the teammate quirks are actually super similiar as well as their playing styles(even though two different sports) hahaha XD The animation is similiar even down to similiar special effects, rival schools, and even rivals school's personalities at least two of the main ones share the same "genre". If you like one, you will like the other :)

Moestyled all-girl cast playing some game. Both series have this "op and mysterious" main character. Both are really cute and although not giving a real representation of the game, both are a fun show to watch.

Scorching Ping Pong Girls feels very Saki-inspired -- it's probably harder to find differences than similarities. Both are 'hype moe' shows where a group of girls team up in the topical sport/competition and use nonsense superpowers to beat down other schools with nonsense superpowers. It's like a sports shounen with the cast of a CGDCT. Other noteworthy aspects include lesbians, the same dynamic between the mains, and the obligatory girl with big boobs.
