Both anime display some plot similarities like, for instance:
- A Powerful Organization (Pandora/Circus) & some weird monsters.
- An alternative fantasy World, where PH is set in an alternative Victorian Era and Karneval in a Modern Steampunk World.
- A blonde happy go lucky main character (Oz/Yogi) that apparently has no problems, but later on some secrets are revealed.
IMO, I like PH better because of certain elements you do not find in Karneval: While PH & Karneval start with a happy feeling, PH soon becomes heart wrenching,leading to a profound character development and an intricate twisted plot, while Karneval manages to keep the happy feeling

Both I think have the same art style and have characters which look alike. Example, Gil from PH and Gareki from Karneval. Both animes have mysterious and gothic styles and to top it all out have elegant and sophisticated clothes. Pandora Hearts has more comedy in it while Karneval contains action and drama. Both are worth your time so please watch Pandora Hearts too.
There is a very similar feeling and atmosphere represented by both series involving organizations in a fantasy like setting.
There is a shoujo background and seems like the main characters gets caught up in bizarre events from the beginning.
Of course, there's action and drama. There is also some strange origins regarding the main character that may spark interest for viewers for both of these series.
-They both have that Alice in wonderland kind of feel (More so in Pandora hearts)

Broody story,characters as well as nice art and especially character designs and also fantasy setting and quite a bit of suspense,action and drama in them as well too.
