Both shows involve girls who become VTubers after things didn't work out with their previous gigs that ended when they punched one of their co-workers. While both are similar in setup, their approaches are different in that Jellyfish is more drama-oriented and Mayonaka Punch is more of a supernatural comedy. Both are done by studios known for their great artwork and presentation.

They are similar in that they tell a story about a group of girls who are striving to gain popularity and recognition. Each has their own goals and difficulties, but they cannot cope without mutual support. The plot of the main character's story is also similar — she made progress in the past, but made a mistake, which forced her to start all over again. In addition to the plot similarity, the anime is similar in drawing and animation quality
