Both anime have similar settings, as they are both set in futuristic, technologically-advanced cities. Both anime feature special police task force main characters that are hunting criminals who seek to destroy the system on which these cities. So, plot-wise, as well as settings-wise, these anime are similar. They also have a similar tone, cyberpunk and dystopian elements, as well as numerous action scenes. The main difference is that Appleseed has robots, while Wonderful Days doesn't.
