Similar main characters. Both are young girls with headstrong personalities. They both find interesting ways to solve problems in their worlds and are passionate about their "jobs" you could say.

Though not an isekai, Erin and Main are quite similar in their world and how they interact, both younger but quite older for their age mentally. Theme wise of family is similar. Both take place in a well-developed fantasy, medieval world. Where it's not common for girls to take on schooling, both pursue goals of learning (reading, writing). Rising up from rags, with very little given in life, but still with a loving supporting family present in both series.

Both series follow a young girl with a strong will. Ascendance of a Bookworm is more of an isekai storyline whereas Kemono no Souja Erin plays out like a fairy-tale in anime form. Both series excel in gradual world building Romance is not a focus in either series

The character designs and backgrounds in both are similar and relatively simple. Both use simple language and plot elements yet achieve amazingly complex worlds and stories with it, maybe because both are based   read more
