Hitsugi no Chaika

Sword&Sorcery anime. The similarity is actually remarkable. While Chaika's idea of sorcerers is very different from the Slayers, it's very well done, along with the mythical creatures.
While the Slayers have the classic approach on wizards with fireballs, Chaika has unique mix of it with the modern age, where they use sniper rifles called Gundo's as magic staves.
The mystery surround the main characters (Princess Chaika) is not the only thing that keeps the anime alive! Her 2 saboteur partner's awkward relationship makes great jokes!
Filled with action, comedy, and a surprising amount of drama and darkness, Slayers and Chaika occupy somewhat similar roles within the fantasy anime canon: that of the dysfunctional adventuring party. See, both shows follow a very chaotic group of antiheros as they attempt to evade the law and fight surprisingly sympathetic antagonists. The adventuring parties act as a found family, bonding over their shared weirdness and giving the shows their beautiful, necessary sweetness. The characters are all charming and loveable (well...Pokota is a bit less likeable :p) and really form the core heart of the show.
