Both show are very casual romantic drama involving the relationships among a group of friends (although Ai Yori Aoshi gets serious in some episodes, and even more so in the later unadapted parts of the original manga).
In addition, we know that the childhood friends pair is winning from the very first episode, and both of the pairs are very sweet and get even sweeter as the series progresses.
