Both shows are set in a fantasy world reminiscent of the world of Dungeons & Dragons; wherein lies a world full of fauna and several cultures and species of beings such as Elves, Humans, Dwarfs & Monsters of many kinds.
Each story's however; has their own unique premise and a set of unique characters yet still maintains it's laidback Iyashikei genre feel with the mundane scenes & unique character interactions. And when it comes to combat, both execute it's battles with finesse and is handled intricately that shows a level of depth & high-level of detail.

Both are slower-paced fantasy, that don't always focus on fights. Instead, they are expanding on different concepts, cooking (Dungeon Meshi) and the story after defeating bad guy (Frieren). Both have 4 people travelling, one of them being an elf mage (but with way different personalities).

These are both like DnD parties of one neurotypical surrounded by autistic companions. They get dark when they need to but are otherwise super wholesome adventures with characters learning more about themselves and how to make the most with their relationship with others, and how to deal with their quirks.
a slice of life fantasy anime with pretty animation and complex characters
-fantasy settings/atmosphere
-focuses on different set of characters and relationship dynamics
-involves different types of adventure in their worlds
-dungon meshi has a more comedic tone compared to frieren
Similar world building and adventure vibes.
Party members include elf mage, dwarf, human swordsman, exploring dungeons.
