Le Portrait de Petit Cossette and Comedy are dark and brooding anime that take the supernatural element to a whole new level of psychological ambivalence. Both are visually challenging and original in their take of emotionally upsetting horror.
It's hard to compare either of these anime to anything else, as I feel they are both quite unique. But, even though Kigeki does not have the same goth feel, there is a similarity in mood and how these stories are told. Both seem to rely more on visuals than dialogue, each with their own sense of a dark fairytale, taking us into another, but still familiar world.
