Both movies deal with both a very realistic side, namely the school and home sides of the characters, while they have a fantasy side to it. Namely Time-Traveling and Witches. They both deal with similar problems the girls are going through and how they solve them.
I felt as if Kiki's Delivery Service and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time both shared a character that underwent the same kind of reconfiguration from start to finish.
Kiki and Makoto are slightly naive about how things operate, and without going into too many spoilers, they both end up sharing the same fate in some way.
Both are great anime movies with slight touches of romance, though TokiKake follows a sci-fi route in comparison to a magic route followed in Delivery Service.
