Dark plots, monsters, the mystery regarding some kind of conspiracy - well, both of these have all that, both of which take place in historical time periods, one being alternative history, both in Europe. The characters are also fun, and someone whose seen one may be looking for something similar yet of a slightly different genre.

The two pass in the twentieth century, with many references of the time that are great, is very visible even in the design in the characters.
Both have reference in alchemy, in the political and philosophical questions
They have a great soundtrack and animation, it makes sense, the two are from Bones studio, which is simply one of the best.
The protagonists are very captivating, you can get attached easily with the brothers Elric and Victorique, are blond, have a difficult past and are tsunderes (this term serves male characters).
Conclusion: the two are incredible animes, if you worshiped Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, see Gosick who will not regret it.

Both scenaries are similar, happening in the beginning of 1900s. The two deal with politics, the corrupt government and war. Also, Gosick deals a few with alchemy.
The atmosphere is very similar and the feelings as well. If you liked FMA or Gosick, it's pretty possible that you will like the other. Also, Victorique and Ed are equally funny ^^
